Our Environment
Our environment is above us, below us, all around us, and within us, and we are an inextricable part of its panoply. What we do, even the little things, can have a profound effect later on as noted by Jordan McDonald an Olathe South High School student who is concerened about the world we live in - and, in his classroom, is learning ways to make it better.
And we can learn from our environment - what is good for it (and by extension, us) and what is bad for it (and, again, by extension, us). We breathe its air, drink its water, eat its food and build our dwellings upon its earth. We are an incredibly unique species amongst all the others that inhabit this planet. We have the power to destroy our world or heal it - the choice is ours. And we must continually remind ourselves that, though we may not see or experience the effects of what we do on this little blue marble, our future generations most assuredly will. And it is to those future generations - our children - that we are most beholden. They hold the key to the lasting health of our planet because it is ultimately their vision and passion that will keep this world a wonderful ark for all humanity. And so this website is dedicated to them, the Students of Our World.
This section of the web site covers all aspects of the planet we live upon - its air, water, forests, oceans, climate, its fauna and its flora. And we don't want this section to be "static" but to be a dynamic repository of information about our fragile earth by adding new information to it on a regular basis. It's meant to be a shared compendium of information about our environment and we welcome any articles, commentary, insights of any kind you might have because, after all, we are a family, riding together on Spaceship Earth.
